Blog funk

First of all, thanks so much for everyone's comments and suggestions on how to try to get out of my blog block. I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I'm in full blog funk mode.

For your entertainment, I have nine-and-a-half minutes of the pure funk experience above. But, that's good funk. Me, I'm in that bad funk place. The rest of this post is going to be rambling (and maybe whining also). So, feel free to click off at anytime....

I've been trying all weekend to change over to the dreaded blogger beta. For some reason, I'm still not allowed to do that. I'm starting to get a complex. Does someone not want me to join the rest of you over there? One day am I going to find my account deleted because I didn't change over? Strange.

And, everytime I get that rejection page, the thought always goes through my mind that I should just switch over to somewhere like wordpress, or typepad, or another blog host. I don't have the technical know-how to set up my own site and server. But, I've had many offers to take care of that for me and to leave blogger.

Maybe I just need to get out of Dodge and take a little break. I am going out of town this coming weekend for a meeting. Maybe that's the spark I'll need to get out of this funk.

Ever get in a rut? I mean, not just blogging, but in life? Kind of getting caught up in the rat race of everyday life - just trying to keep your head above water with everything that is going on. Don't get me wrong, I'm very lucky to have the life that I do.

But, something just doesn't feel right lately. And, I haven't figured out what it is. I dunno. Maybe I'm sick of the cold weather around here and can't wait for the warmer temperatures of spring. Maybe it's the fatigue catching up to me. Or, maybe, just maybe, I just need to relax and stop being such a worry wart.

Thanks for tolerating this post. I know whatever is going on will work it's way out of my system and my psyche. Till then, I'll use the many of your suggestions to get out of this blogblock and blogfunk. Thanks for sticking with me....

I usually get a little funkdified around this time of year. Something about the holidays being busy/fun and then January just being monotonous and cold. I hope your funk lifts soon and that the mini break next weekend will be your ticket to brighter things.

I know exactly what you mean about being in a rut. And sometimes you feel bad about whining about it because so many other people have so much bigger problems. But I think everyone is entitled to blow off a little steam. Usually, I just attribute it to PMS, so what's your excuse? :)

Dr. A.,

As for the blog funk and life funk, I can relate very well. I have had a feeling of impending doom for awhile now. I can't seem to shake it even though I am physically feeling a bit better. Certainly the nasty weather doesn't help. If you need to take a break then take one. We all get there sooner or later. We will be here waiting for you when you come back. Maybe a weekend away is just what you need.

As for blogger, when my son created an account to post on my blog, he kept getting the message that they were "out" of new blogger beta accounts. He had to sign up under old blogger. I don't know for sure how they ran out of beta accounts or if they will get more, but I would just give it some time yet.

I'm late to the discussion because of the unreasonable demands of the outside world --

I get new topics every day on the train just from reading the newspaper. I get 10 ideas from looking at six blogs. (Not stealing! Starting points.) And then there's the stuff I've been meaning to write about.

So my problem has been finding time to write all that I want to write.

Oh, and keeping it short.

You know, like this isn't?

The Sun will come out tomorrow Doc. Bet your bottom dollar....

You could do what I did: You can go to the blogger help page (http://groups.google.com/group/blogger-help/topics) and then sign in. Once you've signed in, make a new topic and label it in caps, desperately, like I did: "Help me blogger employee!" and ask your question. Give your blog URL in the request. When I did this, a real blogger employee wrote me a response and everything was fixed. Good luck--

P.S.: I'm in a funk, too. Maybe it's the weather...

Just so you know, Doc, Blogger wouldn't let me switch over either. I blogged about it in frustration too. As soon as I relaxed and went with the "flow", Blogger relented and invited me to "come on down". My blog migrated over smooth as silk.

Don't give up!

Love this video, btw. Brings back great old memories!

Cheers!

What's that Groucho Marx line....the one about not wanting to be a member of any club that would have me as a member?? Same thing happened to me with beta, Dr. A. Blogger cajoled me to upgrade, I eventually caved in and then it rejected me. This went on for a few months and then one day, on a whim, it let me join beta. Keep trying!
