It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

The problem is that it's the day before Valentine's Day. Yeesh! The picture above is from the National Weather Service. All the pink (some people would call it lavender) has been designated "Winter Storm Warning." Here's what this means from NWS (Sorry about the capital letters. It's from their bulletin):
A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EST WEDNESDAY.

AN ADVANCING LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL SPREAD SNOW ACROSS THE AREA THIS MORNING AND CONTINUING THROUGH TUESDAY NIGHT. THIS SNOW COULD MIX WITH SLEET BY LATE AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE INTO EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. SOME ISOLATED FREEZING RAIN IS ALSO POSSIBLE.

SNOW MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES TODAY AND TONIGHT. 4 TO 8 INCHES OF SNOW COULD ACCUMULATE ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PORTIONS OF THE AREA BY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...WITH 6 TO 10 INCHES POSSIBLE TO THE NORTH. A PERIOD OF SLEET IS POSSIBLE ON TUESDAY EVENING... FROM PITTSBURGH ON SOUTH.

WEDNESDAY WILL BE QUITE WINDY WITH FALLING TEMPERATURES AND BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW.

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW... SLEET... AND ICE ARE EXPECTED. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS. POWER OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE IF A LARGE AMOUNT OF ICE ACCUMULATES ON POWER LINES.

TRAVEL THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING IS DISCOURAGED.
I know my friend Cathy is feeling the pain. She's got a Blizzard Warning (that's the red above). So, be careful out there in the Buckeye state today. The only people that like this type of weather live in Alaska and are in the Iditarod sled dog race. I guess it could be worse. I could be living in upstate New York. Yeesh!

Feel free to send some of it down our way in NC. I love snow and we have only had small traces of it this year. They are only calling for us to get rain. Muddy

How glad I am that the worst of the winter weather where I live has mostly been subzero cold. I'll take cold over snow any day.

I note that on the west side of Lake Superior, the annual John Beargrease sled marathon has been canceled for the first time in its 23-year history. The reason: lack of snow.

Go figure! ;)

I come from Iceland, and one might think we get horrendous winters. Not true, we don't really get rough winters or too much snow at all, at least in the city. So I'm one NOT to like winter at all. My hands and my feet freeeeze!
The winters here in North America, are terrible, and poor people in upstate NY

Yes, it's lovely here in Chicago today, too -- also under a blizzard warning.

Be careful out there, Doc!

Hey Doc, lets move to Arizona! It is terrible here. It has been coming down all day and no sign of stopping or even letting up until tomorrow.

Your practice still open for tomorrow? All the physician offices here closed by about noon today, and all of them will be closed tomorrow also.

Dont ya hate these people in Fla who say..."Oh I wish I was there to be in that beautiful snow" This is what my brother and SIL told me on the phone today, while they were on their patio with 80 degree temps...Give me a break!

Hey! I like your new digs. Very clean. And the format. Glad to have you back.

Hope everyone stays safe, warm, and with electricity.

I'm going to be out making snow angels and snow puppies. I bundle up and throw snowballs to my dog, he loves to catch them and eat the snow. I won't be digg'en the shoveling as we are buried in already, but it's so pretty and I've got a fireplace to come in and warm up in front of. It's not all bad Doc.;)

I'm in Pittsburgh and we got hammered. Ice everywhere and about 8 inches of the white stuff. Fortunately I'm retired...LOL.

Sending you good wishes for a cheery Valentines's day, Doc!

well, better than the 3 inches of ice we got!

So much for my 'let's move to New York' plan.
