Cider elixir

Those wild and crazy researchers at the University of Glasgow have really come up with something interesting. According to All Headline News, it all has to do with cider.
English cider apples are known to have a high quantity of phenolics - antioxidants that are associated with prevention of stroke, heart disease and cancer. Researchers are now looking into whether these same benefits could be observed in cider drinkers.

Researchers led by Serena Marks and funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and the National Association of Cider Makers will be looking at the effect of drinking cider in 12 volunteers in the next few weeks. The purpose will be to study how phenolics are absorbed and metabolized by humans.
Hey! Over here! I'll be happy to volunteer my services for the sake of science. I'll even bring my own cider -- my favorite one is right here. *LOL*

Dr. Anon ... my favorite cider is usually the "accidental" kind ... when your jug(s) of apple cider starts to "go." Depending on how sweet the cider was, you could end up with some really nice stuff!

Lemme know if they accept your offer! :o)

Hahaha I have an amusing story about a hay ride, some hard cider and um....well..... I was in college and it was a frat hay ride. You know how those things go! I remember making my friend stay away from the bonfire. Drunk people and bonfires are a bad mix.

But seriously - I loooooove cider. Another thing I love about fall!! A mug of hot cider with some cinnamon in it....oh how tasty....and comforting!

I dunno about the beneficial health effects. I drink a lot of cider in the fall and winter and um...I have a lot of health problems. ha Maybe I'll test it out this fall and winter again.

Damnit - now I want to go pumpkin picking, fall leaf crunching, and hot cider drinking! Can't wait for fall.... :)

Hey, can I host the next BA meeting (which I've been slacking off on attending) with some nice hot cider? Non-alcoholic, but you can bring your own version, if you like! (I'm mormon, so I don't have alcohol, lol!)

Sarebear, By the power vested in me (insert joke here), I hereby appoint you the next "hostess with the mostess" for the forthcoming BA meeting. Did that sound official enough? Translation: Git-R-Dun!

HealthPsych has been killing me on this iPod stuff. Plus, with Carrie posting some songs on her post, I think I will put back a song list on my sidebar. So there! HA
