I will never forget this day. I was 7 months pregnant with my daughter when hubby came home from work and said "Did you hear about the 2 planes that flew into the World Trade Centre?" I replied "And?" thinking it was the start of a joke. I hadn't heard anything about this, so didn't believe him when he said "No, seriously, 2 planes flew into it." I rolled my eyes and walked away. He went and put on the TV and I happened to walk past the open doorway. I glanced back and saw the burning buildings. It stopped me in my tracks. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. My legs actually buckled under me as I stared at the screen in disbelief. It took me a good few minutes to process the info and when I did, I instantly thought about all my American friends who *could* have been anywhere near it. At which point I dashed upstairs and started sending emails. It was an intense end to my day!!

Thanks so much for sharing this. Yes, still an intense day for me - even nine years later...

America lost our innocence that day.

Everyone I know, can recount EXACTLY what they were doing when this happened.

I was watching live as the second plane hit, and truthfully, thought it was just another horrible "accident" from the plane getting to close to look at the first "accident". I just couldn't comprehend this happening on purpose.

I can exactly remember what I was doing as well. Will stay with me for a long time...

I was driving my older son to preschool that morning (my younger son wasn't even a glimmer in my eye at that point), and was scheduled to work the Book Fair at his school. The news came on the radio...

... and I sat at the Book Fair, with about five other mothers. One other volunteer, and three who just didn't want to leave. We got updates on the news when one of us would run up to the church office.

Not one book was sold that day.

Unbelieveable... I was just doing an internship at Austrian Airlines which is operating flights to NYC even this day! When we saw the pictures on TV right in the office we weren't able to realize what was happening there. When we had to call the planes back to the homebase in Vienna / Austria we got the bad feeling that this was REALity.

My thoughts and my heart is with the victims and people who were involved in this tragedy.

Hi Amanda - Thanks for sharing that story. We were doing something similar at the office that day.

Hello Andrealize - Thanks for your comment. I agree, my thoughts also go out to the families and people affected by this tragedy
